Quincy, IL | Has anyone ever traded off something worth more than what they were buying and got money back from a dealer???? I have been looking at a semi and new hopper bottom. Dealer says I have to pay FET on trailer, along with sales tax on both(difference only he says). So I got to thinking if a person traded in something worth more, pay no sales tax and get money back. Or just try to trade even to avoid the sales tax issue. Be like getting another 6 1/4% for the item being traded???? Tell me if im thinking straight!
