Subject: JD 750 Dozer Pivot Shaft Questions

Texas
Neighbor has a JD 750 dozer that is in good shape with recent engine and final drive work. Undercarraige is about 60%. It sat unused for the last several years. Started right up and runs good. Only problem I can find is retaining ring on the left pivot shaft somehow came loose and is allowing the track frame to slide out and not run square. The outer bushing in the frame will have to be replaced, not sure aboout the remaining bushings on the shaft. My background is with older Cat equipment and it is an easy matter to pull track frames. On the JD, it looks like you have to unbolt the pivot shaft from underneath. Don't like the thought of doing that no matter how securely the frame and equalizer is blocked up. Am I missing something or is this the only way to go.

Thanks for your help.
