Subject: RE: Buying used grain cart?

I bought a 750 for $13K last fall - faded paint, good augers, floater tires. I thought that was a reasonable price at the time and I think you may be able to buy older 750's for that price now. So, if you can fix the augers and tire for less than $3000 (including your time), it may be a good deal. In general the JM carts seem to be built heavy and comparable to brent. However, the older brents had a chain drive from the drive shaft to the gearbox while the JM is direct drive. Also the JM auger folds in front vs the brent side fold - the JM ends up being more narrow. So, in the older carts I think the JM might be the better choice - less to go wrong, narrower transport/storage width.

Hope this helps, Pat
