If they hold air, don't have bubbles and resemble some tread from the day that works for me.
My old ones finally gave up the ghost and the steel was sticking out between the splits down the old treadline. Figured they were about 13 years old. I wasn't impressed. I've seen tires on machinery last longer than that.
