| First, you must plant early as possible (Feb or March or whenever SRW just starts breaking dormancy). Diseases, and especially scab need to be controlled (do not seed into corn stalks). Fertility will need to managed very carefully, because you need 14 protein+, but if you put on too much N, the wheat will lodge (You will need around 2-2.2 lbs/N per bu). After it is ripe, don't let it get rained on. If you did all these things just right and the spring was cool, I would guess the yield of HRS would be about 75% of SRW. | |
