I can remember Dad talking about changing from 38 to 36 and it was a big deal!! He deliberated over that for a long time. I was too young to help much but all they really had to do was slide things in on the planter and cultivators. I think he was still power dropping at that time. We didn't make the the change to 30's until about 72 and I don't think he worried about that as much. That took some trading. Seems like Dad thought the wide rows were necessary for more time to cultivate, especially when they dropped with the wire. He spoke of cultivating several times and once crossways.
