I think shelf life might have something to do with the type and rate of seed treatment used. I wonder if the seed giveaway is seed with high rate of treatment.
I guess if you treated way too much seed corn for your current demand it might play into the free seed giveaway. Or maybe they are just trying to make a big push to get better product exposure with new customers.
