southern MN | Was at a crop seminar dealie a week ago, they talked about the containers. They are piling up, & while it costs more to ship grain in containers, the end user can specify exactly what they want, contract it from the grower, not get a blended down mix of dirt & dust & barely to grade grain, and they are so efficient at handling containers on the Pasific Rim that they can get the units of grain much quicker that waiting for a bulk cargo ship to dock, unload, & divide up the holdful.
Smaller buyers over there can gain access to more direct markets, more quickly & reliably, if they use the containers to ship grain.
Was interesting.
