If you are just needing a way to display the shaft speed and you don't have to feed it to any kind of a control box you can use a Micro Trac brand Calc an Acre and it can be set up to read rpm. It would require mounting a small pickup sensor and gluing ar clamping a magnet to the shaft and running a wire to its monitor in cab.
