Subject: 100' home made rtk tower

just curious if anybody has built their own tower

we have a 80' power pole and I was wanting to build a base that pivots at the bottom that way we could lay it down if there was a problem with the antenna. I was thinking we could use our big pay loader to get help in starting lifting the pole and then also have a cable with something pulling on the other side to get it pulled up?? we currently have fifty feet of heavy coax cable between the base and the six foot antenna, on a grain leg. so we would have to redo our current cable and put the base station close to the ground that way its real handy for updates or to move it to a new location. we currently have the antenna on a 100' grain leg and the base on top of one of the bins.

just thinking it would be nice to get the full 80' pole plus maybe a pipe extension on the top to get us to 100' then put the base on or near the ground so we would have more flexibility for the base station.

currently we are getting about 12 miles of coverage that gets everything we farm but we may be going out past that on some custom stuff. it would be nice to be able to take the base and go to the new location and we would just use the short antenna that came with the base station for the custom jobs.

any help on this would be great

thanks Rfarm
