SE Nebraska | The plate is 14 gage sheet metal. Didn't get it painted yet. I put a usb powered fan on since mine does not have a built in fan like the dou-touch. I can pull the cables, loosen the wing nuts and have it out in about 10 seconds at night. The tablet will fit in the Itronix dock at home with the screws installed. I do not use the external battery but you could use longer screws to keep the battery on. Hope this helps.
