Subject: RE: A question for swine guys and DDGS

Grabill, Indiana
The bigg issue is that they protein in DDGS is from conr and that pritein has a poor amino acid profile for pig growth. The DDGs is lacking in lysine, but this can be overcome wiht the addition of synthetic amino acids. The other isse with DDGS is that feeding too much can lead to soft fat and poor bacon quality, that is why we reduce the amount of DDGS included in the last diet fed before slaughter.

I am concerned about the mycotoxin concentration when feeding DDGS to sows, but the sources I have used this year appear to be clean.

Jim
