| It is called "normallizing" and it is a very common practice in data processing. Because the maps are generated for the entire county, their could be thousands of "Crosby" polygons. They don't want to include the same tabular data rows thousands of times. As well, if there is a reason to change one of those values, it can be changed one place, instead of in thousands of places. But, yeah, it is not as convenient if your software isn't setup to to a tabular join. | |
