Texas | I have moved back to injectable Ivomec after having tried the various "pour ons" the last few years with mixed to poor results. Local vets all warned me, guess I had to see for myself. The "pour ons" worked well for the flies etc. but not for the internal worms. The main reason I switched was to speed up the vacination process and eliminate the possibilty of damaging some meat or causing a "bump" if the injection nicked the meat a little. With the cost of inputs out of control I can't take the chance of some intestional intruders cutting into the profit.
Has anyone come up with a way to do the injection that does not result in tennis elbow or sore hands. The Ivomec is so thick (even when kept at 80 degrees) that it is a killer to get through the needle. I use 18 ga needles because I just can stand to use the 16 ga needles that look big enough for an elephant. Anyone come up with a plan that speeds the process up and makes it more friendly to the body. Doing 400 head is just not fun.
TIA
