| It's right these hol. calve have went into the dumps here the last couple of weeks. Last week in Jerome,Id. sale they were priced $10-25 for calves. My brother-in-law used to pick up day olds from dairies and take them to a calf feeder. They was paying him $5 a calf to deliver them two weeks ago they told him no more calves. I took some 225 lbs. hol. steers to the sale before x-mas only got $50 per head for them. I'm sitting on a bunch of them right now, I can't stand to feed them, and can't stand to kill them, I can't even give them away, I tried to give a month old bull calf to a beef guy that had a heifer lose a calf. I told him they were cheap, told him to just buy me coffee for the calf. His reply was I will buy your coffee, but keep the calf! | |
