I agree,it would be nice in front of the armrest. I tried to mount it somewhere in front of the armrest,just not enough room I found.

I just mounted  ours near the same place as the old displays,with a homemade bracket extension. I think it will be OK, just have to take it for a road test to see if it is in the way too much or if it wiggles too much.
