| I have a Dell optiflex (or something like that) desktop machine with a terrabyte of disk storage in it for imagery. I recently shut it down and stored it in the trunk of a non-moving car for security while I was out of town. Hooked it back up, and now it won't fire up.
When you press the power button, the front light and the amber light on the motherboard start blinking rapidly, and there is a soft, rapid clicking noise coming from somewhere near the power button. I have disconnected all peripherals... the CD burners, all the hard drives, etc, and get exactly the same behavior.
I think I have looked for any loose connectors or wires that may have come loose. Fan runs in the power supply, and fan on the processor runs while it is in this mode.
If I hold the power button in for 10 seconds or so, then the clicking stops, and the front panel "on" light goes off. The amber light on the motherboard stops flickerin, as does the soft clicking.
Any idea where I start with this?
