I agree withe the other posts the 500 is so much better, though the plus' are getting cheap on e-bay. The only thing you need to know is that once you start using the steering and you are hooked you are going to wish you went with the omni-star system. I guess it depends though how much you are going to use it though. I kicked myself after the first couple years with the plus (without omni-star) then said heck with it and bought one of the first 500's that was omni-star capible. Its way cheaper to start there than try to get there later. Goodluck.

P.S. -- 6-8 inches with waas actually means more like 6-36 inches (or that was my experience (opinion))
