| Mike, you have it identified correctly. It is spiny amaranth, or spiny pigweed. And you are correct - you will find it in pastures, but not in crop fields. My suspicion is that atrazine does a good job of controlling spiny pigweed - that is why we don't see it in crop fields. Yeah, it is a nasty looking weed, but I think it is easily controlled, if you stay on top of it. I think any of your pasture broadleaf herbicides would control it, including Cimmarron ..... and others. (Of course, I would not use atrazine in a pasture situation - don't get the impression I am recommending that course of action.)
