I seem to recall once using "Ammonium Laureth Sulfate" as a soil conditioner. It's supposed to reduce the water retention and flocculate the soil. If I remember correctly it did work for us.  Worth looking into. It is an ingredient in makeup and hard to get a hold of. Just an idea for you guys to investigate further. I'm not saying it's going to work for you, but it might.
