Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
The 16 comes in three different models. I assume you have the "PC" style which came from the factory with a 9 Pin connector and a cig lighter plug for power.

The 9 pin connector plugs directly into the serial port of a computer and no null modem is needed.

When the unit is used with the PF3000 a null modem/gender changer is needed.

I have a Garmin 16 like this but I am not using it in the combine since another higher end GPS is available.

With the changes in WAAS, I assumed that some reprogramming would need to be done. However when I tried the 16 as a test, everything seemed to work fine.

My 16 is a 1 Hz model and would not work very well for guidance. What type of lightbar are you using? If you are trying to use one of the older Trimbles, the problem could be there as some of them expect to use TSIP as the communication protocol which would only come from a Trimble GPS.
