Searching for this gets a little confusing, I found out earlier this year. Omit the word "stem" from your search, and you may come up with more references. I didn't immediately see any references from the Corn Belt but didn't go too deeply in the Google listings.

Copy and paste the following into Google, and you may have better results:

"sugarcane borer" +grain sorghum

I never thought about the rascal getting that far north.
