Subject: RE: Raven Controller

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
The Raven ON/OFF valve needs constant 12V power on the red wire and constant ground on the white wire. The black wire is used to cycle the valve. When the black wire is at 12V the valve should open. When the black wire is not at 12 V the valve should close.

When the black wire is "hot" this activates an internal relay. If you hear a click when the valve should be open, this tells me that the relay is getting activated. This means that the black wire is going to 12v and the ground must be OK to the relay.

My best advice is to check for 12V on the Red wire. Again the red wire must always be "hot" and the white wire must always be ground. If you have 12V at all times on the red wire then there is probably a problem with the circuit board.

On older Raven ON/OFF valves for NH3, it is fairly common to have internal problems with the circuitry or the motor itself. Although repair is possible, generally a complete valve replacement with the newer style is the best route.
