Yes, can generally be done as long as the Garmin can output the right data string, baud rate, and hertz rate. 8N1, NMEA, 4800bps, 1hz, GGA and VTG turned ON, all others turned OFF.
You need a serial cable from Garmin, and an 87302445 adapter from Case.
