Subject: RE: Two-Way radio and Trimble receiver ?

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
From your description it sounds like you have a two-way radio, a "loose" Trimble GPS feeding the AFS monitor and a separate EZ-Guide 500 with EZ-Steer all running at the same time.

When you say that you "power up" your two-way radio, do you mean "turn it on" or "transmit".

If you lose GPS when you transmit, this is not terribly surprising especially with higher powered two-way radios. Since the antennas are possibly quite close together, the RF generated by transmitting can overwhelm the GPS signals. Some solutions are moving the two way antenna or using a lower powered two-way radio.

If you lose GPS just my turning on the two-way, this is more puzzling and may indicate a wiring problem. Since you state that things work again when you unplug the radio this is probably your situation.

Why not use the GPS out port from the 500 to feed the AFS and eliminate the troublesome "loose" Trimble receiver?
