Subject: RE: Pricing High Moisture Corn

Scottville, 49454 Northwest Michigan
Bill,

I just offered to sell a dairy farmer, 30% high moisture for $85.00 per ton. He's paying the trucking. That was roughly the equilivant of $3.00 per bushel. I save on the trucking, drying and storing. Plus I'll be able to get an earlier start on harvest and will get money out of my crop sooner. For 22 % high moisture corn, the price would have to be about $97.00 per ton. Who would be doing the trucking in your situation? Also, you might find someone willing to sell you high moisture corn directly from the field. Is there any corn in your area ready to be harvested? I'd check with them. Someone might be interested in selling you some corn this way for a variety of reasons, not the least of which, is the issue of a lack of storage space.

good luck, gordon
