Remsen, IA | A beta copy is a prerelease version that has basically all the features that will be in production software but may have minor or even possibly serious bugs that need to be fixed before the production release comes out. Beta copies of new software are often available on a limited basis to help the manufacturer identify and fix these bugs before large scale production begins.
In the case of Apex, the 1.5 version that I've been using has so many bugs that I'm not sure it was ever even ready to be a beta version.
