When I feed my calves here at home I hope to get around 2 pounds of gain a day too. I dont want to fatten them but more grow them and if you go much over 2 per day you seem to start getting alot of fat. I have 39 weaned here now and they are going good. That is the reason that heifer looks and weighs what she does in the pic you have is because she was allowed to grow and was not pushed and fattened quick. I only take mine to 850 or so here and I want the next guy to have some grow in them too. When they get to the final destination they will be pushed alot harder and will still perform for the man hopefully.
