Callao Missouri | I agree with swmnhay. I have a similar alley with three cross gates that alternate hinge ends, that way when I close a gate the end of the next open gate is right there. The last gate should swing to the open trailer door and can be used to push cattle onto trailer.
I do not see the need to narrow the alley. Just make sure the trailer door is tied open in some manner to block of the part of the alley not covered by the trailer.
BTW, what does everyone use to hold trailer doors open. I have used copper wire tied loosly enough so I can grab the door and pull it quickly. Have also used tarp straps.
