| In order to get your cows to drink by themselves you need to have smaller paddocks that the cows are never very far from each other. If they have to travel very far they will travel as a group.
While I was in college I worked at a farm that did rotational grazing with about 60 pairs on 80 acres divided into 20 paddocks. There water system consisted of 1 inch black plastic line laying on top of the ground with a quick coupler in every paddock. The waterer was a lick tub with a float and hose attached to it, never had a problem with it getting knocked over.
They have a herd mentality that is there basically for protection from predators. | |
