South Central Kansas, Harper County | This is the year for the 150th anniversary of the Kansas Cattle Drive, bringing Texas Longhorns up the Ellsworth/Cox Cattle Trail to the Kansas Pacific Rail Head. Cattle drive started over labor day weekend in Caldwell, Ks, and is traveling up to Ellsworth, Ks. The group has about 200 head of Longhorns and I believe 200 more will be added in Kingman, Ks. They travel about 15 miles a day. I was fortunate enough to have a neighbor with a really nice pasture, where the bed down for the evening last night. We were invited for a Bar-B-Q and country music(plenty of refreshments). Took some pictures, I thought you all might enjoy. First picture is off my rear deck early t his morning, as the cowboys were gathering up the cattle getting ready to move em out and down the road.
We have been building corrals the past two weeks, and just so happened, the route they took the their next destination, took the right by our working place. So, I snapped quite a few pictures. Weather is beautiful this week, highs in the 70's & 80's. Hope you enjoy the pictures, and they don't take up too much bandwith.
Jim
