Near-north Ontario, French River | Storm shelters or 'safe' rooms sound like a real good idea, especially if you live in a tornado area. With all the talk of handicap accessibility and 'no stairs' has anyone ever built a ground level, shelter? I'm thinking a concrete walled "bunker" located centrally in the house, both easy to get to and wheel chair accessible. I realize ideally a tornado shelter would be below ground level but having it sub-grade severely limits access to those who can't descend stairs quickly. |
