Subject: Numbering Scheme on Relays - Ed, others

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Not that it matters much, but why are the terminals on certain relays numbered the way that they are?

It seems strange that numbers like 30, 85, 86, 87 etc. are use on some brands - must be some historical or political reason. Yet other brands use 1-n which would seem more reasonable.

At least within those that use the 30, 85, 86, 87 scheme, the setups seem to be consistent from brand to brand.
