8970,

I am not an insurance expert by any means but what crops were you looking to insure? There are several types of policies and not all of them are availible in every county or state for every crop. For spring planted row crops, the sign up deadline is march 15th. I think you can do a search on this site and look for crop insurance threads between jan and March. Plenty of discussion on here then. There were a few posters that were agents that answered several questions but I see they must only do that during the sales push.

If you have a county extension agent they should give you some help I would think. Also check out the usda's rma website. It may (or may not) help

For example on corn and beans there is CAT, CRC, MPCI, GRP, GRIP, GRIP-HO, RA, FUBAR (just kidding on that last one, however after having all of the others explained, that is what you feel like :)
