Mark, I have seen some VERY nice Red Angus just a couple miles form me. That might make a very nice cross and get a boost from the heterosis. I really like the pure Hereford cows in my system as I work most closely with them all through the year. I have decided I am going to grow my own cows. Maybe after I get up to my target number of cows through retained pure Hereford heifers, I may actually give a Red Angus bull a try. Thanks for the suggestion. BTW I am already getting my average mature cow size down. If a RA bull helps further or to maintain that 1200 lb size all the better. But that's a couple years off yet. Seems like I would like to keep both sides pure to get max F1 effect but we'll see. I see some of my processed Hereford steers off of corn are ready to pickup after dry aging a couple weeks and just in time for the start of the grilling season. This is report card time. Jim at Dawn edit: Ahay or Mark, how is the typical RA bull's disposition?
