Northeast Missouri | We're looking to AI some cows this spring, with the goal of saving heifers.
I can pick out a bull based on EPDs, but EPDs don't tell me the differences between bulls in what I *really* want to know: they don't describe disposition (my #1 selection criteria), and whether the daughters a bull produces are deep sided (good capacity) and easy fleshing.
I'm looking at DAR National, OZZ EXT Governor, and Atlas. The first two have slightly better carcass EPDs, while Atlas is a bit lower birth weight (all of them are in an acceptable range for me).
But which mostly likley will produce the kind of heifers I want? Any other suggestions? Who do I ask? ...needs to be somebody who gets around the country, hears the "scuttlebut" from breeders, and "knows" the bulls.
