| we have a 4020 with 158 loader and over 16,000 hours. That's all it does - move bales anymore. At the time, with side console, it was the cat's pajamas. Updated to a large frame skid steer and was really liking the speed and manueverability of the skid steer. Quickly became slicker than the bee's knees for loading silage, problem was it was also scrapping cattle floors, moving snow, loading spreader, and always in the morning when the ground was froze so we could get the spreader in the field or all the feed bunks were drifted over. Nobody wnated to run the open station 4020! So we put a DUAL loader on our 4440. This was great, radio, air, grapple. It was a little harder to climb in and out all the time, the clutching again got old, though the quad box transmission was setup awesome for B range in the silage piles. The dual loader is still around, now it is hooked to the gooseneck to go out and pick up bales when one of the kids wants something to do. Super easy to connect attachments. it is self leveling, first one of them we have had and that helps with the kids running it, no more rocks or slop over the back.
The real cadillac showed up when we got an older 444G payloader. No clutching, best visibility, 4wd, articulated for manuevering, cab, radio, heat, left hand reverser, it's all there and now the skid loader can be used for manure, the 4440 sits in the shed not accumulating hours, 4020 has been restored (hood fixed) and the versatility of the payloader for cleaning bank and church parking lot after chores are done, stirring compost pile, playing in the dirt for neighbors, and with some pallet forks, there ain't anything this thing won't lift (for what we are doing). Just wish we had done this earlier. | |
