| I have 16 Angus/ BWF fall calves (October calves) that I would like to wean soon. These calves are a lot bigger than they have been in the past. The steers are probably 400-500 lbs and have been on calf creep fed for a month of so.
We normally wean them late June/ early July, but these calves were born a little later. We have always been dissapointed at the price we get when we sell them. We have sold them right after weaning, and waited till October, but they didn't sell good. Two years ago, we kept them untill the spring and sold them with the spring calves. They sold well, but I don't want to keep them that long.
I am thinking about weaning them this or next week, and selling maybe the first part of May. Would people want these as grass calves or would it be too late? What do you do? | |
