Eastern Iowa | I'm not off to a great start either.
20% of my heifers were open, and the first two that calved lost them both--one born dead, the other had to be pulled and the cow fell on him just as soon as he was up on his own. She was spraddle legged after the difficult birth and I should have kept the calf away. Now she's in a hobble that took three tries to make work. But she's up, and eating, and not mad at me anymore. So that's good.
