Maybe that is the cause of my lack of success with frost seeding. The pastures I tried it on were last grazed in early November. I hate to have the cows skin the existing forage down to the ground even, in November. I like to leave at least 4 or 5" of growth for over the winter.

With the cost of good red clover seed however and since I can rent a drill fairly economically I would just as soon not take a chance on the stand. But thanks for the comment. You are probably right.
