WY, OK | For future reference if you do get one with purple gut give C&D antitoxin orally along with penicillin and an injection of both. Early indicators are a small bloat with the calf standing and kicking its stomach then it will fall down and repeat. They'll blow up like a balloon and be dead in less than 24 hours. You can try and relieve a bloat with a esophageal tube half full of soapy water and/or tube them to relieve it. | |
