SW MN | I have a Houle 6000 gal slurry manure tank that I would like to put some kind of indicator on to know when the tank is empty (not pumping any more manure). Right now a flow meter and control system is not justifiable or workable for a few different reasons. (others use the tank too- not sure I want every Tom, Dick and Harry messing around with $8000 worth of electronics and wiring.... it is tough enough to keep the PTO shaft and hydraulic hoses functional)
I checked with the Houle dealer and a simple indicator and light for in the cab is about $500. A used system is about $250-300. Is there something else out there that others have used? I am wondering about something like a spring loaded flap in the main line that could be seen from the tractor cab? Something robust that would move a flag up and down?
I know some would say just look at if there is manure coming out of the hoses, but I use covering disks that tend to obscure the view from the cab- or if it is dark when applying.
Just looking for some ideas of what others have done.
Thanks
