They can be down with phophorous deficiency too, with milk fever they don't usually try to get up, with phosphorous deficiency they sometimes try a bit to get up but can't. Phosphorous IV will do the trick if that's the problem, but it takes longer to work than calcium. Hope this helps !!!!
