The reason I asked about the preconditioning is that a WI Hereford group has a preconditioned program sale every year in early Dec. where they group together Hereford or BWF calves from smaller producers. I was thinking of possibly selling a few at that sale if there was a bit of a premium for weaned, preconditioned calves and if/when my numbers get up a bit. I am intrigued by your and your son's operation shown in your pictures, as I suspect other readers here are also. It looks like you are setting up an efficient, well thought out and flexible system to add value to your crops through feeding them to cattle. It looks like a modest scale system which could be profitable and produce some good beef. With a modern version of diversity you can respond to the markets in a variety of ways. It always amazes me at all the different ways people can and do raise/finish cattle. And basically I am impressed by someone who uses solid sheeted curved sections in a cattle handling facility!
