North Central Kansas | I just put a calf in my homemade calf warmer that I posted pics of. Had a calf born about 8pm last night. I thought it was going to be alright but it started snowing pretty hard here a couple of hours ago and the calf was cold and didn't look too hot when I went out to check on the cows. I gave it a dose of nutridrench and I plan on checking on it in another hour. As soon as it is warm I will take it to the calving shed for today.
We were only supposed to get less than an inch overnight and 2-4, 3-5, 4-8, 6-8, 12" and possibly 14-16" today depending on which TV station you watched. Accuweather is only showing 2.2 inches on the way. It is already drifting pretty good now. Wind is blowing about 25 mph from the Northeast, which is the only direction that I have limited windbreak.
I would guess the wife and kids won't have school today. | |
