Subject: Re: Texas fence stetchers

Ontario Canada
a neighbor showed us an easy way to fix fences years ago ,, take a 3/4 inch ( or bigger )steel rod 10 inches long , weld a t handle on it , and drill a hole near the other end ,, on a broken barb wire , put a hoop in it and splice a piece of black wire onto it ,, on the other part of the barb wire put another hoop in it and thread the black wire thru this hoop , then with the handy gadget thread the black wire thru the hole near the end and start turning it ,, when the barb wire is tight , just bend the black wire backover the hoop , unroll the gadget and twist the black wire tight on the barb wire ,, it sounds complicated ,, but its very simple ,,
we have cut loose fences and done this to tighten as well . the next year if there is a snow load on the fence , the black wire will likely break instead of the barb wire ,, and then you have the hoops in the barb wire to use to fix it !! but the black wire usually lasts for quite a few years !!
