| Hope your having weather were you can get your calf broke . When we first started we set a couple of simple goals .
Get our calf broke to lead and stand
make weight
get calf shown
get calf sold
We got everything done ,had some fun and had a pretty happy kid in the end .
As was mentioned a Semmi will need to be fed right up to max weight and that heat in July and august can really throw those calves off feed . Don't know how big your show is . So how much fitting you are going to need to do . The Gelviegh assoc. has a good fitting and showing flyer on their web site . Also thejudgingconnection.com has a bunch of resources for showing and judgeing .
The black thing is why my kids don't show black .One kid likes Char x , and the other one likes herefords no reason to be a lemming. At our show last year a char x calf won . We're a small 3 day fair up in north central Montana , we've got 5,000 people in the county , if you're in the midwest at a bigger fair I'am sure the trends are going to be tougher .
Rule number one have fun | |
