WY, OK | Had one last night, ambient was -27F and wind chill was in the -40 to -50's. Calf was curled up on some ice this morning looking miserable but alive, cow could have picked a lot better protection but it still lived. Red Angus cow with a Herf cross calf, of course it is a heifer calf, if it was a bull I'd guess it would have died the seem to be a lot more heartless than heifers. Had 5 others all put in the barn when they calved with no issues. | |
