MN | Agree on the saliva and bottles. I've used nipple barrels and the amount of saliva is amazing they generate, but the amount of scours is reduced versus the buckets that I used before. Milkbar makes some good nipples -- but tough to get popped on the bottles when it is cold (black rubber). I usually plan on about 45-50 pounds of milk replacer per calf feeding 5-6 weeks (holstein bulls) plus a number of vaccines which probably run about $10 (haven't really totaled it all up) plus calf starter. No hay really until 3 months or more. When cold, you have to plan on more milk replacer consumption as they have to have enough calories to keep warm and grow. | |
