I don't want to spend a fortune for a place to sleep but I don't want to stay in a dump.  I saw prices ranging from over $200 a night to a low of $71 a night.  I rent out a house with a garage, a lawn and a garden for $425 a month.  Somehow renting a room for a couple of night that wipe out a months rent income doesn't seem even remotely right.

The problem is twofold, cost and reviews.  When I read the reviews everyone of  them have people that say the place has an imcompetent staff, it's dirty, it's run down or some combination of all.

I'm looking for suggestions.  I would like to be near San Jose State University for about 3 days.
